Message from the President
In a world where we are fighting
every day to hold on to our values, dearly clutching whatever money the government deems us worthy of keeping
and where our freedoms are being chipped away minute by minute, there is no better time for an organization like
Homemakers for America.
I know many of you are convinced
that your voice doesn’t count and I am sure there are many more who have probably resolved to the fact we are
living in the sign of the times and corruption and deception are the new standard. This, however, can only be so if we allow it. I assure you that while this may be a sign of the times, it is not the end but merely a
means to an end.
Your voice does count and it is time you were heard. You are
not alone. I promise you that. There are millions of women like you all over this nation who are crying out for
commonsense and some semblance of decency. I am just one of the
millions and I would like to call on you to rise up and stand for what you already know is
right.
We are where we are today
because of ignorance much more than apathy. We care; we just don’t
know what to do about it. We have a voice; we just don’t know how to
use it. Homemakers for
America is my personal crusade to change that.
In the last 8 years I have read the stories of our founders.
I have read old history books (prior to 1970). I have read the Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Independence, the
Federalist Papers and anything else I could get my hands on. As I
read I developed a greater love for my history and heritage as an American and a greater understanding of what
it means to be an American.
America was founded on
families. Women are the center of the family. If we will take the time as women to educate ourselves on America’s history and heritage
and then share what we’ve learned within our sphere of influence—first with our families then our communities—we
will create a ripple of patriotism that will grow into a mighty wave and all that plagues our nation will
disappear.
Everything we face in our nation
today can be traced back to a warning from our Founding Fathers—from the economy, to our personal rights, to our
family values—the Founding Fathers had the answers because they learned from history. That is why studying our history is so vitally important. If we don’t know the past we can’t learn from it. If we don’t learn from it, we are destined to repeat it.
Thousands of years of history
testifies to us that socialism doesn’t work and yet our own people just voted for it with the passing of an
almost $800 billion “stimulus” bill. History clearly outlines how
government control leads to tyranny and oppression. Civilization
after civilization demonstrates the importance of families and individuals with moral character and
values. History has already shown us what works.
And that is why there has been a concentrated effort over the last 60
years to rewrite and even remove historical events from our textbooks. It is why the writers of our American textbooks have slowly washed out the study of
history until it is boring and just tolerated.
History isn’t boring.
And it isn’t supposed to be. There are so many fascinating stories that tell of America’s history that can still be
found—reprints of old history textbooks, historical fiction, biographies and movies. America wasn’t perfect when it was founded but it was the best the world had ever seen
and our Founding Fathers hoped we would improve upon it. Instead, we
have torn down every advance they made.
Our Founding Fathers were not
out of touch with the world. They were not racist, sexist,
homophobic, self-centered land owners anymore than you are. They were
humble, God fearing men who spent a lifetime studying ancient civilizations and governments.
They knew what would and wouldn’t work because they read, they studied,
and they lived in a time when oppression and tyranny were at every turn—much like today. They didn’t believe for one minute that the King was greater than they were.
They knew that all men were created equal—by God not
man.
We owe it to our Founding
Fathers to preserve the legacy they left us. We owe it to them to
fight to keep the freedom so sacrificed to much to leave for us. John
Quincy Adams once said, “Posterity: you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your
freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.” My heart aches when I read those words because I know as a people, we have not made
good use of it. But we can change that. We can turn the tide and it all starts with
you.
Homemakers for America was established by women, for women.
Our website is an interactive filing cabinet of resources and information
to get you started on your journey. We will continue to add links, books, and resources as we find
them. We will make every effort to inform you of the public policy
issues that directly impact your families. And we will, through
the Abigail Adams Project, do our best to provide you with information on who your elected leaders are, how
they vote, who the candidates are and where they stand on key issues so that you can take an active role as a
citizen of this nation and still focus on your family. America
was, after all, founded on families and it is within its families that America shines.
We have seen dark
days before. We will see them again. Our government may collapse but the spirit of the American people will never
die. It was that spirit that forged this nation and it is that
spirit that will save her. It is my fervent prayer that you will
rise to the occasion and take advantage of this organization and this website with all it has to offer as you
begin your quest learn your history and heritage and influence this nation for good—one woman and one family
at a time. Without you America is lost. It was women who helped build this nation, it was women who tore it down and it will
be women who build her back to greatness. It is all up to
you. The future of America is in your
hands.
Where do I begin? We strongly suggest starting with a book called, The 5000 Year Leap.
It is a fairly simple read and
clearly describes the miracle of America and why it is so vitally important that we preserve the Constitution
for future generations. Freedom isn’t free but it is for everyone and everyone must fight for it. This is an
excellent book. After you read this book we suggest you take the time to look through “What Every American
Should Know" and use those books and resources.
We will continue to build our
on-line library of book recommendations and resources as they make it through our approval process.
We encourage you to check back often for the most updated
list.
Your Fellow Homemaker,
Kimberly Fletcher
